How does the Peg Com Guild work?
This is in response to the question of how Peg Com functions and what its parts do.
Pegasus Command is a multigame community made up of individual guilds in multiple games. Each guild is part of a unified chain of command. While each guild game has its own chain of command inside it. All guilds are under the command of the Supreme Commander, who appoints each Game Commander who runs the individual guild they oversee.
Each of the Peg Com guilds look to grow organically inside each game we have an official presence in. That is, we look for members inside each game not inside Peg Com. We allow and encourage guild members to play any game we have on offer but that is never required. Peg Com is not a guild that migrates from game to game.
We are run as a democratic republic. Our main elected body is the Pegasus Command Quorum (The Q), which is the rule making body of the guild and the elector of our Supreme Commander. Each seat on the Quorum is elected at large by Peg Com citizens, in elections each 6 months. Our system is parliamentary in nature, but with a slight twist. Since our early days Peg Com has been divided into military and civilian spheres.
The military sphere consists of the day to day functions of the guild as well as over all leadership and direction. This direction and leadership are provided by our Supreme Commander (SC) who is elected by the Quorum for a 6 month term. SC’s are required to have a long-term plan approved by the Quorum soon after their election which is to provide goals and direction during their terms. The main check on the SC is the Office of the President, which can veto most actions of the SC if required, which will mandate the action be voted on by the Quorum . Outside that, the Quorum can call for a no confidence vote to remove a SC and elect a new one. Otherwise the SC is responsible for plan implementation and rule enforcement in the military sphere of which they are the prime authority.
The civilian sphere is the province of the Quorum , Office of the President, and Judicial System. The Quorum is the main rule making body in the guild, and they are the ultimate authority from which all other powers are derived. They are also the court of last resort in the guild for all Judicial decisions. The number of seats on the Quorum is one seat for each official game plus 1. That said, guilds do not individually elect members to the Quorum , that is a Peg Com wide vote. There are no guild game seats. All rules and decisions of the Quorum are by majority vote of its members in most cases, and all regular meetings are open to guild members.
The Office of the President is elected at large by all Peg Com citizens. They oversee all elections, and guild public works such as private servers or the website. This Office also processes judicial appeals, all recruiting and member purges, maintains the Peg Com citizen and retirement lists, and works with and mentors the SC.
Our Judicial System functions as an intraguild, and sometime interguild complaint resolver. It holds hearings on complaints and resolves issues between members. It makes recommendations on issues and orders remedies. It is made up of three Peg Com Citizens appointed by the President and approved by the Quorum . They serve for one-year terms. This system is open to any member of the guild. It is concerned with rule violations and rule interpretations at member requests.
